Toitu Tairawhiti was formalised to respond and support Te Tairawhiti with our collective response to Covid 19 but had been meeting regularly in an informal capacity to prepare for, respond to and collectively position to meet with the Iwi Chairs Forum. 

Since then Toitu Tairawhiti has led many successful initiatives and participate in regional forums including: 

• Taiao Jobs for Nature 
• Marae renovations & upgrade funding 
• Job training and development 
• Economic Recovery Forum
• Rau Tipu Rau Ora 
• Manaaki Tairawhiti
